Amado/Leandre/Cleaver

Amado-Leandre-Cleaver brings together three extraordinary figures in contemporary improvised music. Portuguese saxophonist Rodrigo Amado, French double bassist Joëlle Léandre, and American drummer Gerald Cleaver bring to their trio the experience of European free jazz, new music, and the American improvisational tradition. Their music emerges in the present moment—from tension, listening, and immediate reactions. Raw saxophone lines, the physical sound of the double bass, and a multi-layered rhythmic imagination come together here in an open dialogue that is spontaneous, intense, and full of unexpected twists.
