Friday will kick off with a performance by a well-established Czech pianist at the Petrof Gallery.
Kristina Barta’s Red Landscape is the latest project by Czech jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader Kristina Barta, one of the leading figures on the contemporary Czech jazz scene. Her music blends a classical education, a modern jazz vocabulary, distinctive melodies, and ample room for improvisation. The quintet builds on the album Red Landscape, which intertwines original compositions with themes of memory, identity, boundaries, and personal stories. With an international lineup featuring renowned Slovenian saxophonist Jure Pukl, singer Petra Brabencová, double bassist Peter Korman, and drummer Marek Urbánek, the group creates music that is contemporary, emotional, and at the same time firmly rooted in the jazz tradition.
